I've had two third party adapters for two different Mac laptops. I was having battery problems at one point and a "genius" told me it was due to the third party adapter. I didn't believe him entirely, but got a new Apple one just in case.
I kept one of the third-party adapters as a last resort spare, and after being in my travel bag for 4 months, I finally had the need to use it last week. My battery was about 10% remaining so I plugged in the third party adapter -- Powerbook froze. No mouse, keyboard lights, nothing. I had to wait until I got back home to plug in an Apple charger, before it would turn back on.
Are all third party adapters this bad? BTW... this particular one is a no-name brand from Frys. Has anyone actually used a third party adapter with no problems?
